NI ROCKS recommends "Control" by THE BREW

Published: Thursday, 06 February 2014 00:00 | Written by NI ROCKS | Print | Hits: 6517

When I first saw the track names on my download of the new album by English rockers The Brew I thought something was a bit amiss! Then it clicked! The album is called “Control” and the tracks have titles like “Eject”, “Mute”, “Pause”, “Fast Forward” etc!! I get it…that’s clever! Thankfully it’s not just a smart gimmick though. “Control” is a great rock n roll album and “Repeat” (the title track of the first single from the album) was definitely the button being selected after my first listen! There wasn’t a track called “Crank Up The Volume” but that was the reaction that was demanded!

The Brew have been around since 2004, releasing four previous studio albums and a live album in 2012. They’ve toured with the likes of ZZ Top, Ozzy Osbourne and Chickenfoot and won their fair share of awards. The new album was produced by Toby Jepson and is released through Jazzhaus Record on 20th February.

The Brew are Jason Barwick on vocals / guitar, Tim Smith on bass and Kurt Smith on drums and percussion.

Included on their upcoming tour dates is a gig in The Diamond Rock Club, Ahoghill on Saturday 10th May.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer and I certainly don’t claim to be a journalist, but I wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels. That was the simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they just represent one person’s opinion!!  So I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.

Secret Area 69 location revealed by NASA Assassin in début stormer release

AROUND the late fifth century conventional historians relate that a boat carrying Fergus, son of Erc of Armoy ran ashore on a volcanic dyke after establishing a kingdom in Scotland. The old name for this rock has since become known as Carrickfergus - or the Rock of Fergus.
