Finnish band Block Buster release their debut album “Losing Gravity” through Frontiers Music on 13th September. Frontiers are promoting Block Buster as part of their ‘New Breed’ roster, however I didn’t really know much about the band, so I arranged to get some questions answered by e-mail. The band line-up features brothers Aarni and Jaako Metsäpelto on lead vocals / guitar and drums respectively as well as lead guitarist Elias Salo and bass player Joonas Arppe. Elias answered a few questions about the band’s history and their new album.

“Torn From The Pages” is a new album, released on 6th September by Mighty Music, featuring the talents of guitarist and producer Stevie D and Living Colour frontman Corey Glover. This is the first collaboration between the two musicians and initially Glover was to record just the one song, but this soon expanded to all thirteen tracks on the album. The single “Your Time Has Run Out” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 26th July and “Wake Up Call” is on the Show this week.

“Burning Sermons” is the second album from Liv Sin and it was released on 6th September by Despotz Records. The Swedish metal band is fronted by former Sister Sin singer Liv Jagrell. They released their first album in 2017 and Liv was my guest on the Friday NI Rocks Show at that time. The track “Blood Moon Fever” from the new album was featured on the Show on 9th August followed by “Chapter of the Witch” on 23rd August. The latest single “Hope Begins to Fade” is on the Show this week.
Black Star Riders released their fourth album, “Another State of Grace”, on 6th September via Nuclear Blast Records. It was released in several formats, including on picture disc, on green vinyl and on gold vinyl as part of a boxset (the option that I went for!). The album is released just ahead of a tour of the UK and Ireland that sees them play shows in Dublin on 16th October and in The Limelight, Belfast on 17th October. The latter is preceded by an acoustic show in HMV Belfast, open to those who bought the album there.
