“Afterglow” is the third album from Swedish band JD Miller and it was released on 18th October by Mighty Music. The band formed in 2011 and has been acknowledged for their heavy AOR sound. This latest album is seen as their most ambitious to date. The track “The Desire” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show back in June and “Icarus” was on the Show on 18th October.
Swedish band Cyhra release their second album, “No Halos In Hell”, through Nuclear Blast Records on 15th November 2019. The band was formed by singer Jake E, following his departure from Amaranthe, when he teamed up with former In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad. The debut album “Letters to Myself” was released in October 2017 and the other members of the band are guitarist Euge Valovirta and drummer Alex Landenburg.
Cyhra will be joining label-mates Battle Beast on tour for four weeks commencing mid November and this includes a show in Dublin on 27th November as well as four UK dates. I had the opportunity to chat with Jake via Skype on 31st October and you can hear almost thirty minutes of that interview on the Friday NI Rocks Show this week. We actually chatted for about 45 minutes about everything from kids to records to NewYork, but I’ve edited down to focus on the band, the new album and future plans.
The Show is available from the NI Rocks MixCloud Page - https://www.mixcloud.com/NIRocks/interview-with-jake-e-from-cyhra-on-the-friday-ni-rocks-show-8th-nov-2019/ - and can be read below.
There are two NI Rocks Shows uploaded each week on Rock Radio NI. These are the playlists for those shows for the month of October – all of which are still available from the On Demand Player. There are tracks by around 140 different artists on the Shows this month. Playlists for September were published previously and these Shows are also available via the On Demand Player – http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/news/rrni-updates/3672-ni-rocks-playlists-for-september-2019.html
This month the Friday NI Rocks Show on 11th October included interviews with Magnus Karlsson from The Ferrymen, Primal Fear etc and David Ellefson from Megadeth. The latter interview was repeated again with some additional tracks on 25th October.
German vocalist Doro has been one of the most recognised and respected singers on the metal scene for over thirty years. There can be little doubting of her iconic status and she has worked and recorded with some of the industry’s biggest names. This November she is one of the headliners at Hard Rock Hell XIII in Great Yarmouth and as a fan for the past thirty years I jumped at the opportunity to record an interview with her ahead of that appearance.
We spoke by phone on 25th October and chatted about her career, the double album “Forever Warriors / Forever United” released last year and a number of upcoming projects. That interview was on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 1st November. The interview and three tracks are available from the NI Rocks MixCloud page -
